At AOG it is simple. You have no charity if you have no donor.
So we are on Team Donor. Every day.
If your job is involved with donor giving – you should be the centre striker/forward/pitcher/quarterback (insert any other key position on a sports team) for Team Donor.
A donor decides to graciously help your organization. They feel good.
You make sure they feel appreciated, thanked, supported, inspired. You feel good.
They feel amazing because you (another human) have said, “I see you. You’re important. We needed you. Thank you.” They feel good.
They give again. Maybe more this time. They feel even BETTER!
Then your boss feels good since you are helping raise more money. Then you feel good since your boss actually is plugged into you and YOUR efforts.
You work harder to please them. You work harder to please your donor.
They feel good. You feel good.
‘Good’ grows. More ‘good’ happens.
So, to recap:
#donorlove is a thousand simple things. (h/t to Damian O’Broin)
#donorlove is about 99% common sense. (h/t to Ken Burnett)
#donorlove is about finding simple ways to solve complicated problems.
#donorlove makes the simple but critical shift from ‘what we do’ (as a charity) to what you (the donor) make possible.
#donorlove is Team Donor – 100% of the time.
