A while ago, I got a chance to sit down with Beth Brodovsky to talk about marketing!
As a fundraiser and marketer — I spend a lot of time thinking about inspiring donors through thoughtful conversation. I take their time and attention quite seriously. If we aren’t rewarding them for looking at our newsletter or skimming the latest gratitude report or taking a look at the latest appeal — we have failed.
I’ve said it before, if you are a charity, marketing is fundraising. Fundraising is marketing. No separate divisions. No silos. Both should heap generous teaspoons of gratitude and appreciation on top of your donor, tell them inspiring stories of their efforts at work, echo their personal values and remind them why they care about you and your work.
Beth and I have a good tongue wag about the concept of marketing as it relates to charities.
