You’ve been to that cocktail party where you’re having a great conversation about “that” thing – that thing you both agree drives you crazy/makes you happy/tears your heart apart/have a fully belly laugh – and in the moment that follows, you look at each other and realize you’ve just shared a moment with another human where you truly connected.
I love chatting with my colleagues and friends about the passions that connect us all. Almost always it revolves around #donorlove. I love that moment where you say something that means SO much to you, in a way that someone else has never heard it or considered it before… and there is that pause, the locking of eyes, that mental and physical nod.
I’m lucky that I get to meet so many folks at conferences, in meetings, at meet ups and have moments like that – but also honoured that people further afield also want to chat, connect, share…
So, in that spirit, I wanted to share a few people and places where we have been connecting with others to share our #donorlove.
I sat down to talk to the one-person shop expert, Pamela Grow, about Gratitude Reports and what it REALLY means to be donor-centred (and – no – sprinkling a bunch of “YOU’s” around your boring letter isn’t going to cut it). You can listen in to her podcast here.
It was so cool to be asked by Lucy Gower, an innovation champion from the UK to contribute to her blog – so exciting! I reworked an old piece with some up to date thoughts about “It’s not them. It’s you!” Be you a fundraiser, a donor, a marketer, a human… there is something here for all of us!
It was great fun to join my pal and colleague Kimberley MacKenzie to gab about a remarkable bird and focusing on your donors – in Tony Martignetti’s podcast over at The Chronicle of Philanthropy. You can listen in to our thoughts – from the agency and charity perspectives by clicking right here!
Lastly, Jen and I got to share, with Gail Perry, one of our most favourite campaigns of all time. The Second Harvest Truck pack – as it is affectionally referred to. You can’t hear the podcast unless you are one of her INSIDERS but she shared a lot of the creative and seven tips on how you can get the attention of your donors with a few simple tips and tricks.
Hope you enjoy these!
